Materials design
We perform thin film synthesis of a wide range of materials such as metals, semiconductors, oxides and nitrides. We will carry out the necessary optimization to obtain the requested features and provide the customer with a detailed characterization of the material. We can either deliver smaller quantities of ready films or provide recipes which can be transferred to larger scale industrial manufacturing equipment.
Our synthesis method of choice is magnetron sputtering, a versatile ultra high vacuum thin film deposition technique which is scalable to industrial size applications. Magnetron sputtering provides precise control over material properties and produces films of exceptional purity. We have a range of different sputtering techniques at our disposal, allowing deposition of complex alloys and layered structures. For thicker coatings, other physical deposition (PVD) techniques such as cathodic arc deposition or electron-beam evaporation are also available.

Materials analysis
We offer a range of analysis techniques for characterizing materials properties. For each task we will select the appropriate characterization techniques, perform measurements and analyze the data. We can provide a full analysis, including a written scientific report, as well as the raw measurement data.
We will analyse structural properties such as atomic arrangement, density and roughness, perform imaging (optical, electron beam or atomic force) and surface analysis, as well as determine electrical or magnetic properties. Please send us a query and we will identify the most efficient analysis solution.

Materials advice
If you have problems related to the performance of your materials, we can help. We can help you to identify a more suitable material, select the most appropriate synthesis technique to achieve your goals, and design a growth optimization strategy. If you are unsure about the choice of analysis techniques for a specific task, we can assist you. We can also carry out analysis of existing data and deliver a full report.
